Why I No Longer Employ Female Secretaries ― Pastor Adeboye
By Church News
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained why he no longer employs female secretaries, describing the decision as a personal boundary to safeguard his spiritual discipline.
Speaking during a sermon titled “Jonah Must Go” at the ongoing RCCG Holy Ghost Congress 2025, Pastor Adeboye, 83, said the choice stemmed from his awareness of human weakness and the need to avoid situations that could lead to temptation.
Pastor Adeboye recalled that he once had a female secretary while serving at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos. However, after relocating to the Redemption Camp where he often worked late into the night, he decided it was wiser to discontinue the arrangement.
“Working late into the early hours and being alone with the opposite sex is a situation I cannot risk. So I chose to let the ‘Jonah’ in my life go,” Adeboye said during the sermon.
Pastor Adeboye urged Christians to identify and distance themselves from any relationship or influence that threatens their spiritual progress.
“Whatever represents Jonah in your life must go. When you obey God and release what hinders you, He takes over from there,” he added.
