Pastor Kumuyi Relaxes Deeper Life Marriage Rules
By Marie
Pastor William Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has introduced significant changes to the church’s marriage rules, saying that these guidelines are administrative, not biblical.
Speaking at the 2025 Global Family and Marriage Conference, Pastor Kumuyi announced the relaxation of several long-standing rules.
The restriction preventing women from visiting their prospective husbands during courtship has been lifted. Couples can now visit each other, provided a church elder is present.
The six-month mandatory courtship period is no longer compulsory and Pastor Kumuyi stressed that this was a human arrangement and not a biblical requirement. He clarified that marriage committees are for guidance only and do not have biblical authority. He warned leaders against overstepping their limits and imposing undue authority.
He further encouraged Christians to be mature enough to understand the difference between biblical laws and church principles.
