A New President Of Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN) Emerges

Most Reverend Daniel Okoh has emerged as the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The announcement of Okoh’s election was contained in a statement by the CAN General Secretary, Joseph Daramola.
Reverend Okoh is the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church, also known as Nation Builders (Odozi-Obodo).
CAN is made up of five blocs: Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN)/Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), TEKAN and ECWA Fellowship.
Born November 12, 1963, in Kano to Christian parents, he is a native of Ndoni in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers.
Reverend Okoh attended Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha, Anambra.
In 1988, the cleric graduated from the University of Port Harcourt where he studied Political Science and Education.
The religious leader attended Christ Holy Church Seminary, Onitsha, and bagged a diploma in Theology.
He was the Chairman of, the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC); National President of OAIC (Nigeria); CAN National Vice-President (2007-2013).
The archbishop was one of the six delegates that represented CAN at the National Political Reform Conference in 2005.
The Reverend is also a board member of the African Council of Religious Leaders, and will now co-chair the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) alongside the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.
His Eminence, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, deeply appreciated the support given to his administration by all stakeholders and prayed for divine guidance and expansion.
Reverend Ayokunle, the outgoing CAN President who during his reign doubled as the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, was first elected the CAN President on June 15, 2016, taking over from his godfather, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
He was re-elected on June 19 2019 for the second term of three years after defeating his opponent, Dr Caleb Ahima, President of the Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria.
