Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will undertake a state visit to the Holy See in late October, making it their first official meeting with Pope Leo XIV. The visit comes during the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year, a sacred celebration held every 25 years.

The royal couple will join the newly elected pontiff, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost of Chicago in commemorating the Jubilee under its 2025 theme, Pilgrims of Hope.

This visit was originally scheduled for April but was postponed due to the declining health of Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21. Charles and Camilla did manage a private audience with Francis on April 9, coinciding with their 20th wedding anniversary.
