King Charles Postpones Visit to the Vatican

By Church News

King Charles and Queen Camilla have postponed their planned visit to the Vatican, originally scheduled for early April. The decision was made following medical advice recommending that Pope Francis, who recently recovered from a severe respiratory illness, take additional time to rest and recuperate.

The visit, which would have marked a significant moment in relations between the Catholic Church and the Church of England, has been postponed by mutual agreement. Buckingham Palace released a statement expressing the royal couple’s best wishes for the Pope’s recovery and their hope to reschedule the visit in the future.

While the Vatican visit is on hold, the royal couple’s subsequent engagements in Italy are expected to proceed, albeit with potential adjustments to the itinerary. This development highlights the ongoing health challenges faced by Pope Francis and the careful balancing of royal duties by King Charles.
