Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix (17), shortly after winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, took to her page on Instagram, saying that Mark 4: 37-41 had inspired her journey to gold.

She said: “Mark 4: 37-41 – Peace by still. This was the title for my competition yesterday. Peace of mind and stillness of water. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.”

Although the 17-year-old is notable in her own right, her famous father, First Dates star Fred Sirieix, also attracted some attention at the Birmingham competition.

Andrea was named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2020.

At the end of 2021, she reflected on a mega year – which included a trip to the Tokyo Olympic Games – with an Instagram post saying: “From the most amazing support team and family to achieving my childhood dream, I truly am blessed by God.”

Andrea is a British professional diver who won her first solo international gold medal at the 2020 FINA Diving Grand Prix and later that year was selected as the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. She won the gold for the Women’s 10-metre platform at her first Commonwealth Games, in 2022.

At the British Diving Championships in 2018, Spendolini-Sirieix and her colleague from Crystal Palace Diving Club, Josie Zillig, won the women’s 10m synchronised diving event, completing five dives as the only entrants.

The following year, partnering with Emily Martin, she won the Women’s synchronised diving competition at the Junior European Championships in Kazan.
