Cory Asbury Releases Highly-Anticipated 5th Album
By Church News
Multi-platinum selling, GRAMMY Award Nominee, Cory Asbury releases his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Pioneer, via BEC Recordings.
Drawing influence from Nashville’s music scene, Pioneer explores a new side of Asbury while maintaining honest and cutting lyrics that speak to the fragility of the human experience.
For this record, Asbury co-wrote with a veritable who’s-who in Nashville including Lori McKenna (Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift), Shane Stevens (Lady A, Walker Hayes), Tom Douglas (Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert), and Paul Mabury (Lauren Daigle, Chris Tomlin) to create a body of work that showcases his heart as an artist.
“Pioneer is my most personal record to date,” shared Cory. “Every song comes from a deep place and carries a part of my story, from childhood to today. Vulnerable, honest and from the heart, every song speaks to what it means to be human, the highs, lows and everything in between. I hope this album meets you where you’re at today.”
On September 27th, Asbury will perform a very special record release show at City National Grove of Anaheim. Following that performance, Asbury will embark on the Texas Takeover Tour with special guest Brennley Brown. The nine-city headline tour will kick off in Houston on November 2nd and make its way across Texas before wrapping in Kilgore on November 12th.
Fueled with a passion to see people encounter the love of the Father, Cory Asbury is a songwriter, singer, speaker, author and worship leader who joined the Bethel Music Collective in 2015.
Cory is known for his hit single “Reckless Love”, a song nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 after winning two GMA Dove Awards and two K-Love Fan Awards in 2018. In July of 2020, Cory released another solo album, To Love A Fool featuring the hit singles “Sparrows” and “The Father’s House”. Cory lives in Middle Tennessee with his wife Anna and their four children, Gabriel, Lily, River, and Willow-Grace.
Starting as an intern with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2005, Asbury’s career as a musician grew as he collaborated with Matt Gilman leading to the release of Holy in 2008, followed by his first solo album, Let Me See Your Eyes, in 2009 by Forerunner Music, and numerous appearances on IHOPKC albums, with songs such as “Where I Belong”, “Shekinah”, “All Is for Your Glory” and “Holy Ghost Party”.
In June 2012, Asbury moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to join New Life Church where he began as an associate worship pastor, becoming a member of its ensembles, Desperation Band and New Life Worship.
