Christian Movie Review- The Out-Turn
The Out-Turn series is interesting and it focuses on these few points below:
Do not be in a hurry to make a decision. Making hasty decisions can cost you.
Deciding without God being involved is a dangerous thing to do.
Sheila’s dad was adamant about going to the USA because he felt like it would be good for him and his family.
This decision makes me remember what happened to Elimelech, Naomi’s husband in Ruth 1:1- 5 KJV. He saw that there was a greener pasture in Moab and settled there, not only did this decision cost him by losing his life, but it also cost his sons’ lives.
Sheila’s dad lost his wife and son by this decision he took and his daughter Sheila was affected to the point of not wanting to talk to or date men again. She hated them with passion.
Do not dwell on it, seek help immediately
Sheila losing her mom and her brother affected her in every area of her life because she lost people who were so close to her due to the decisions that her father took.
Dwelling on this for a long time affected her, thanks to her best friend who introduced her to her parents who are pastors, they were able to help her try to heal gradually due to the pain and hurt, and she was able to rely on the Holy Spirit to help her get through this process.
You have to Forgive
Sheila’s dad came back to Nigeria with nothing, and he wanted to fix his relationship with Sheila, she was not interested because she felt he abandoned her, her mom, and her brother, and his decision cost her mom and her brother’s lives.
Sheila knew she had to forgive but it was very hard which is understandable. His coming back was opening up a wound that she was trying to close and move on from. Sometimes, God allows the person who hurt you so badly to come back into your life for you to forgive the person. Remember Matthew 6:12 KJV states “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors”.
Forgiveness pleases God
Sheila and her husband were waiting on God for the fruit of the womb at the same time, she didn’t want to forgive her father. She eventually did with the grace of God.
What was striking was that Sheila took a pregnancy test some days before deciding to forgive her dad and the test came back negative. She forgave her dad, she found out she was 6 weeks pregnant.
God does have a sense of humour, she was pregnant when she took the pregnancy test but God hid it because he knew that would be an excuse she would use not to go and see her dad and forgive him.
Sheila became a specialist in counselling couples going through mental states whom people go to and she prays and advances them, God used her as someone who went through a lot and came out better on the outside, and is helping people going through the same issue.
It reminds us of Genesis 50:20 KJV when Joseph’s brothers thought he would punish them for selling him into slavery and he said ” As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” and Job 42:10 KJV when God told Job to pray for his friends “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.”
