The visit was part of UNILAG’s plan to appreciate the quintessential clergy as one of the founding fathers that have laid a solid foundation for the department to flourish.According to the acting Head of Department, UNILAG, Associate Prof Adesanmi Mogbademu said, “Unilag is the university of first choice and the nation’s pride.“Recently, Pastor Adeboye instituted a professional chair in Applied Mathematics in UNILAG. The distinguished clergy obtained his Masters and PhD degree in Applied Mathematics (Hydrodynamics), from the University of Lagos.“We are glad to meet him one-on-one in his residence at Redeemed Camp where we honoured him with a plaque. He further told us good old stories about the Department of Mathematics, UNILAG and how it has produced great icons.”The General Overseer declared some time ago to have the first to have an MSc, PhD in Mathematics and three postgraduate degrees from the University of Lagos.Until he became a full-time pastor of the RCCG, Pastor Adeboye was a lecturer at the department of Mathematics of the University of Lagos.He aspired to be the youngest Vice Chancellor in Africa. But when the Lord called him to full-time ministry, he abandoned his ambition to obey God.He said, “forgive me. I’m not used to boasting I don’t want to boast. But I want to say you are standing before a unique person. I am the first to have an MSc in Mathematics from the University of Lagos, I am the first to have a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Lagos. I am the first to have three postgraduate degrees from the University of Lagos. I worked for two, they gave me one.
