On Pentecost Sunday, churches across the United States participated in a historic baptism event, leading to 26,657 individuals publicly declaring their faith. The initiative, known as Baptize America, involved 650 churches from all 50 states, marking the largest synchronised baptism event in American history.

Pastor Mark Francey, one of the organisers, emphasised the unity behind the movement: “The prayer of Jesus in John was that we would become one, and I think that’s what we’re seeing right now—a unity around what we all agree on, which is water baptism.” The event was inspired by previous mass baptisms in California, which saw thousands baptised in recent years.

Many participants described the experience as deeply personal. Jorge Gonzalez, who was baptised alongside his brother, shared: “God was pulling all my heartstrings. I had to come out here and finally accept Jesus as my Saviour. And today was the perfect opportunity.” Organisers hope to make Baptize America an annual event, continuing the momentum of spiritual renewal.
