By Bede

On Thursday night, suspected Fulani militants fired through the home of one Jeffrey Moses in Bassa County, killing his nephew and wife.Moses stated that himself and his 16-month-old child were asleep in a different room when he heard the sound of shots being fired. One of the shots killed his wife instantly. His nephew, a 19-year-old Shadrack Zwewhie, however, was taken to a clinic where he eventually died.See Also: Catholic Priest Killed By Bandits in Katsina“I believe those who attacked my family are Fulani herdsmen, because they’ve been responsible for the incessant attacks on our people,” Moses said about the Fulani militants. “Earlier that day at about 4 p.m., the Fulani had trespassed on our farm, destroying our crops, and threatened to attack us afterwards. We did not take their threat seriously, and we never knew they would attack us that same day.”“The sad thing is that there are soldiers stationed close to our village, but they did nothing to stop the herdsmen,” he lamented. “The government has not been able to address this issue, and each time we try defending ourselves, soldiers will stop us.”Source: International Christian Concern
