Torch Gives Out 1,000 Audio Bible Players

By Church News

Torch Trust, the Christian Sight Loss charity, has given away one thousand audio bible players to people in the UK who have sight loss.

The audio bible players are the new Megavoice Pathways and feature David Suchet reading the New Testament and Psalms.

This small, easy-to-use MP3 player has an in-built speaker, and preinstalled rechargeable batteries and comes with charging cable and in-ear headphones.

The players have been tested by people with sight loss, with positive feedback about their ease of use and content.

For many people, losing their sight is confusing and life-altering with one of the biggest losses being the ability to read. For those who have regularly read the Bible, this can feel like being cut off from their greatest source of encouragement, strength and comfort. Imagine the joy of so many in receiving a simple-to-use Pathway audio Bible when they can once again connect with Scripture.

Most of the first 1,000 players were sponsored by individuals, churches or trusts. Torch is also seeking people to donate £20 to cover the cost of sending out one of the new audio Bibles.

Torch Trust is an ecumenical Christian ministry that focuses on the spiritual support and encouragement of blind and partially sighted people. For over 60 years we have been providing accessible resources and a variety of ways to connect and support people living with sight loss.

This Ministry believes that people with sight loss have a valuable part to play in their communities and churches.

Torch makes a difference in the lives of people with sight loss by providing them with the opportunity to access Christian resources, sight loss-friendly churches and a range of friendship and fellowship events.
