Tope Alabi – ‘God will hold us accountable for these things’

By Church News

Gospel singer, Tope Alabi has expressed her concerns about the rivalry among gospel artists in Nigeria.

During a concert on Sunday, she highlighted the prevalence of fake love in the industry and the ungodly levels of jealousy and bitter rivalries among her colleagues.

She urged her senior colleagues to prioritize reverence for God over fame and success and to foster support and unity between established and emerging artists. “God will hold us accountable for these things. Let us stop it. It is high time we know that we are working for the kingdom and not for ourselves or fame. The bigger ones separated themselves from the up-and-coming. And yet the bigger ones still fight themselves again, what do you want those coming up to do?” she said.

Tope Alabi also pointed out that emerging artists are already against each other, backstabbing and emulating the negative behaviours they see. “These children coming up are already backstabbing and emulating us because we started it. They are enemies of each other and smile at one another, they are faking it. This is getting out of hand and God will ask us,” she added.
