“The Holy Spirit Has Been in Me and with Me during Difficult Times”- Danica McKellar
By Church News
Danica Mae McKellar is an American actress, mathematics writer, and education advocate. She played Winnie Cooper in the television series The Wonder Years from 1988 to 1993, and since 2010 has voiced Miss Martian in the animated superhero series Young Justice.
McKellar, in an Instagram post, discussed her renewed Christian faith. In April, McKellar said she had “started going to church” after being invited by fellow actress Candace Cameron Bure.
“I’ll be honest; it’s been a super rough time over here but we are hanging in there, Life hits us all with challenges of all sorts at various times. Just remember that we are not alone. Love and comfort are just one breath away,” she said.
Danica McKellar encouraged her fans to “close your eyes, take a deep breath, and as you breathe in, feel God’s love.” That love, she wrote, is “available to everyone at all times if we seek it out, no matter what our history is with organized religion. That love and comfort is for you, no matter what you are going through, let us greet the new week with excitement and a sense of adventure that comes from inviting new experiences and opportunities to love and serve others.”
The actress continued, “Find all of that in your BREATH, because that’s how you connect to Spirit. I have had moments of joy amidst this tragedy, absolutely because of connection to God.”
“I used to be uncomfortable with the term Holy Spirit, and used to think of it as Universal Love,” she wrote. “At the end of the day, those are all just words with biases we’ve created in our heads based on religion but I can tell you, the Holy Spirit has been in me and with me through this difficult time, and I’m just so grateful.”
