Convened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rev Justin Welby, the 15th Lambeth Conference is a gathering of bishops from across the Anglican Communion for prayers, reflections, fellowship and dialogue on church and world affairs.The Conference which started on July 27th with the theme ‘God’s Church for God’s World – walking, listening and witnessing together,’ the conference will explore what it means for the Anglican Communion to be responsive to the needs of a 21st Century world.At the Lambeth Conference, the Archbishop of Canterbury decided that the bishops gathered should adopt a process called ‘Lambeth Calls.’“Lambeth Calls” is the name being given to describe declarations, affirmations and common calls to the church shared by bishops that are taking part in the Conference.The Lamberth CallsDuring the Conference, there will be several Lambeth Call discussion sessions, where bishops will be able to share their thinking,  experiences and outcomes of the discussions shared as a written ‘Lambeth Call’.There will be a short paper that includes a declaration, summarising what the Christian Church has always taught about these matters.An affirmation, summarising what the bishops want to say on these matters in the present time, specific requests (The Calls) to future witnesses, sharing actions or challenges that the bishops want to give to each other, to fellow Christians and the world.Each ‘call’ is drafted by a group made up of bishops, clergy and laity from around the communion led by a Primate or senior bishop. They will be discussed and shaped further during the Lambeth Conference, which will close on August 8.Bishops, Rt Rev. Julian Henderson, Bishop of Blackburn; Rt Rev. Philip North, Bishop of Burnley and Rt Rev.
