Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone spoke some faith-filled words after claiming Olympic gold in the women’s 400m hurdles.

The 25-year-old American, who set a new world record with a time of 50.37 seconds, vowed that she seeks to “glorify him” in all aspects of her life.

Speaking at her post-race press conference, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone said: “I credit all that I do to God. He’s given me a gift, a drive to improve upon myself. I have a platform and I want to use it to glorify him.

“So whenever I step on the track… it’s always the prayer of ‘God, let me be the vessel in which you’re glorified…whatever the result is’… how I conduct myself, how I carry myself, not just in how I perform.

“So it’s just freedom in knowing that regardless of what happens, he’s going to get the praise, through me. And yeah, that’s why I do what I do.”

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, was the 2022 world champion and was the first woman to break the 52-second and 51-second barriers in the 400m hurdles.

She is married to Andre Levrone Jr, a former player in the National Football League (NFL). The couple reportedly attend Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, and Andre is enrolled at The Master’s Seminary, which is affiliated with the church.
