By Church News

Gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader Sunmisola Agbebi has been named Spotify’s EQUAL Africa Artist for February 2025. This prestigious accolade is part of Spotify’s EQUAL Africa program, which aims to showcase outstanding female talent from the continent and elevate them on a global stage.

Sunmisola Agbebi, who began singing at the age of four, has made a remarkable impact in the gospel music industry. Her debut single, “Amazing,” released in November 2020, marked the beginning of her ascent in the music world. Since then, she has released several tracks, including “B’Ola (Honour)” and “Holy Spirit,” which blend traditional African drums with contemporary sounds and heartfelt worship.

Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, praised Sunmisola’s music for its deep spiritual essence and unique connection with listeners. “We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on her through the EQUAL Africa program,” Okumu stated.

Sunmisola expressed her gratitude for the recognition, saying, “Being an EQUAL ambassador on Spotify this month is a blessing I deeply cherish. It’s a powerful reminder that when you obey God, remain diligent in your calling, pursue excellence, and live a life of service, He will amplify your voice and place you in the right spaces with the right people. I’m excited for what lies ahead because I trust the One who holds the future”.

As part of the EQUAL Africa program, Sunmisola joins fellow Nigerian singer Qing Madi, who was named the EQUAL Africa Artist for January 2025. The program continues to highlight the incredible talent of female artists across Africa, providing them with increased visibility and opportunities to reach a broader audience.

Sunmisola Agbebi’s upcoming album, “Glory,” set to be released on February 21, 2025, is highly anticipated by fans and promises to be a vibrant celebration of faith and African music.
