Sudan Seizes Over 100 Christian Sites
By Marie
Sudan has taken over more than 100 churches and Christian buildings, reportedly forcibly seizing or destroying them since the conflict erupted last year.
Among the latest incidents, a Pentecostal church complex in El Haj Yousif, built in the early 1990s, was demolished by extremists allegedly working alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The attack is part of a disturbing pattern of religious persecution, with sacred spaces being desecrated and repurposed for military use.
Targeted Faith Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) condemned the demolitions as “grave crimes under the Rome Statute,” noting the deliberate nature of these assaults on places of worship. Sudan currently ranks fifth on the Open Doors World Watch List for Christian persecution, reflecting the severity of the crisis.
