Stormzy Honoured with Jesus College Fellowship

By Marie

Renowned rapper and philanthropist Stormzy has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Cambridge’s Jesus College, recognizing his profound impact on culture, social change, and education.

The Stormzy Scholarship, established in 2018, funds tuition and living costs for Black British students at Cambridge. To date, nearly 70 students have benefited from this initiative, with the 2025 cohort expected to be the largest yet.

The scholarship has contributed to a notable increase in applications from Black students, often referred to as the “Stormzy Effect”.

Stormzy also founded Merky Books, a Penguin Random House imprint dedicated to amplifying new voices in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. He established the Merky Foundation, a charitable organization supporting racial equality, justice reform, and Black community empowerment and launched the Merky Films.
