Southern Baptists Reject Formal Ban on Women Pastors
By Church News
The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) recently voted on an amendment that would have officially barred churches with women pastors. It received 61% support but needed a two-thirds majority to pass.
Juan Sanchez, a Texas pastor, introduced the motion to clarify Baptist principles while James Goforth, a Missouri pastor, argued that it was unnecessary.
Alexander Odum, a Florida pastor, said: “We should not back down from our biblical stance on pastoral roles.”
