Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Help In Helene Relief
By Church News
In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation, the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) has stepped forward as a beacon of hope and support for the affected communities.
The seminary, established in 1950, is no stranger to community service and has a long-standing tradition of training ministers and students to serve not only in churches but also in times of need.
As Hurricane Helene swept through the Southeast, it left a trail of destruction that impacted millions, including over 250 students and their families associated with SEBTS.
In response, the seminary has launched a multifaceted relief effort to provide aid and comfort to those affected. The initiative includes prayer support, volunteer mobilization, and essential supply collection, demonstrating the seminary’s commitment to embodying the principles of faith in action.
One of the critical aspects of SEBTS’s relief efforts is the partnership with Baptists on Mission, an organization known for its disaster relief work.
SEBTS is organizing a team to travel to the hardest-hit areas in western North Carolina to assist in recovery operations. This hands-on approach allows students and faculty to engage directly with the affected communities, offering not only physical aid but also spiritual support.
SEBTS has established a water drop-off location on campus to facilitate donations. This effort ensures that clean drinking water reaches those in dire need, highlighting the seminary’s practical response to the crisis.
By integrating their faith with compassionate action, SEBTS students, faculty, and staff are making a tangible difference in the lives of many, reflecting the institution’s core values and the broader humanitarian spirit of the Baptist community.
SEBTS encourages donations through Send Relief and NC Baptists, as well as volunteering with Baptists on Mission.
