Serena Williams has been baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness just four months after retiring from tennis.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, Serena Williams was baptized recently as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, marking a monumental moment for the recently retired tennis player.

The baptism took place at the Jehovah’s Witness Assembly in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Serena who announced her exit from the court last year September had earlier expressed her desire to focus on her family and faith after quitting the game.

Serena in an interview with Vogue said, “Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, but I’ve never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it.”

She added, “I tried to develop a better relationship with God, you have a strong solid foundation, the bible says, you won’t crack, but the man who built his house in the sand, his house went down spiritually. I have a really strong foundation. That’s how I was raised.”
