Sarah Jakes Robert has been honoured with the 2023 Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) Award for her resilience in “championing Black Women’s health.”In commemoration of BWHI’s 40th anniversary, the 35-year-old pastor, and daughter of the Influential Bishop TD Jakes was recognised for “leading the charge in raising awareness of vital Black women’s issues.” Sarah Jakes Robert was described by BWHI as “a beacon of hope, inspiring countless women to thrive through resilience and transformation.”Found in 1983 by Byllye Y, BWHI is the first and only national non-profit solely dedicated to achieving health equity for Black women in America.According to its website, BWHI has evolved into a nationally recognized organization leading health policy, education, research, knowledge and leadership development, and communications designed to improve the healthy outcomes of Black women.Sarah Jakes Robert acknowledged the reception of the award in a Saturday Instagram post. “Last night, I received the Vanguard Award from BWHI for my commitment to serving the spiritual, emotional, physical, and practical needs of black women,” she wrote.“Woman Evolve has grown to serve all types of women, but when God gave me this vision for a ministry that represented every facet of womanhood, black women trusted me with their time, resources, hearts, and bodies,” she added.“Our sermons, podcast, social media, devotional, books, and events reach millions because if I can only give you Jesus, that’s more than enough, but those who choose to journey with us as a movement know we’ve been doing the work to remove as many barriers to abundant life as possible.”Sarah further expressed gratitude to BWHI for availing to “over 200,000 women” “resources for assessing and responding to their health.” She noted that “one member of Woman Evolve was able to detect her cancer diagnosis and begin life-saving treatment.”Recognised along with Jakes at the award night was Sheryl Lee Ralph, an actress, singer, and healthcare advocate, tirelessly championing healthcare equity.ALSO READ: Robbie & Donna Howells Talks About the Power of the Holy Spirit
