Speaking at Global 2033, a Catholic evangelization event in Rome, evangelical leader Rick Warren urged Christians to embrace unity ahead of the 2,000th anniversary of Pentecost. Warren emphasized that denominational differences should not hinder the mission of spreading the Gospel: “No single denomination can complete the Great Commission on their own.”

Rick Warren cited Jesus’ prayer in John 17, calling unity “the unanswered prayer of Jesus”. He acknowledged that while cultural, structural, and doctrinal unity may never be fully achieved, Christians can still work together in evangelism. “I pray with anybody who believes Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life. These are brothers and sisters in Christ,” he stated.

Warren’s participation in the Catholic event sparked discussions on interdenominational collaboration. He also shared a personal testimony, recalling how Catholic prayers helped him through the loss of his son in 2013: “One of the things that helped me through was hearing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy on EWTN. It became a balm for my heart and for my wife.”
