Release International called for an awakening from the rest of the world to what is happening to Christians in Nigeria. This is after reports showed a high number of Christian murders committed by Fulani militants and jihadists.

Release International is an international organization that monitors and reports the persecution of Christians globally and renders assistance to said Christians. They made their call after the release of an NGO report by Intersociety. The report showed that upwards of 1,400 Christians died at the hands of attackers in the country between January and April.

According to the report, more than 2200 Christians were also kidnapped in the same period. The NGO arrived at these numbers by making calculations from different sources. They included data from media reports, eye witness accounts, human rights organizations and the government.
