The Nigerian Baptist Convention, which has existed since 1914, marked its 110th Annual Convention on April 22nd to April 27th, 2023 at Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC) along Lafuwape Town, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The convention is usually filled up with activities in various units like Royal Ambassador, Lydia Auxiliary, Girls’ Auxiliary, Baptist Student Fellowship, Women Missionary Union, and Men Missionary Union among others.

This year’s Convention in Session theme was Entering into Newness through Love and Unity. John 13: 34-35.

The programs being held were numerous, and among the programs were the Sunbeam, Girls’ Auxiliary, Lydia Auxiliary and Royal Ambassador Parade.

The Parade session was one that everyone liked to attend because of its replica of the Military Parade.

During the Parade, the Commandant for the Lydia Auxiliary who happens to be a lady was summoned to salute the Marshal for the Royal Ambassador, a guy. After marching to the Royal Ambassador‘s side, she, I.e. the Lydia Commandant made an ‘about turn to salute the Marshal.

However as she turned back to make a salute, she was gobsmacked by the turn of events, the Marshal was on a knee with a ring of proposal right in front of thousands of onlookers. This created a great surprise for the bride and she ran back, and later came back to accept the ring amidst cheers from the crowds.

The President of Nigeria Baptist Convention(NBC) confessed that this kind of proposal is the best proposal he has ever seen in his entire life. Before the entire NBC Family, the President promised a cow for the wedding celebration and advised them to pick a date early for the celebration.

Nigerian Baptist Convention known as N.B.C. for short is under the Baptist Denomination.

Baptist Churches are majorly evangelical in doctrine and most times classified to be a Protestant Church and they believe that only believers should be baptized and that baptism should be done by immersion, rather than sprinkling or pouring of water.
