On a Primatial visit to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje at the Government House in Kano on Saturday, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Dr Nicholas Okoh appeals to Nigerians to do away with hate speech.The trend in recent time has been seen as alarming by the cleric.In his words, Ã¢â‚¬Å“Hate speech has serious consequences in our country as it promotes violence, extremism and conflicts.Ã¢â‚¬Å“Most of the adherents of these two religions donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t have the real understanding of the teachingÃ¢â‚¬Å½ of their religions; that is why we having problem with hate speeches.Ã¢â‚¬ÂOkoh also stated that Nigeria could only move forward amidst Love, tolerance and understanding, while adding that religious bodies in the country had a Ã‚Â critical role to play in nation building Okoh said.Ã¢â‚¬Å“We have critical roles in nation building and we must work for the progress of the country, because we believe in one Nigeria,Ã¢â‚¬Â he said.Ã¢â‚¬Å½The Clergy went ahead to encourage Nigerians to accommodate people of other denominations as peace was very vital in the growth process.The government’s effort at ensuring security of lives and property was also commended by the cleric.Ã¢â‚¬Å½In a remark, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje restated the commitment of the state government in securing lives and property of all in the state.Ã¢â‚¬Å“For government to make worshipersÃ¢â‚¬Å½ practice their faith without hindrance, government is beefing up security in places of worship during Sallah and Christmas festivities,Ã¢â‚¬Â Ganduje said.
