Premier Gospel, a radio station that has been championing gospel music in the UK for decades has now joined Apple Music as a curator, bringing together exciting gospel sounds spanning five different playlists.

Each playlist has been crafted by experts in the field to showcase the best of that genre. The Spirituals were featured on the ‘Ultimate Choir’ playlist with songs from their renowned Christmas Project EP, which they performed live at launch.

This event was one of a kind, many of the staff and customers at the Apple store had never seen anything like it. One of the members of staff said ” The choir’s voices were amazing it gave me shivers! I have never heard gospel music performed live before.”

One such playlist is “My Story, My Song with Muyiwa”, in which decorated musician and Premier Gospel singer Muyiwa Olarewaju takes listeners through the favourite tracks of well-known artists within the genre.

The Playa’s Choice playlist will see more recommendations from big names, including Emmanuel Abiola, the musical genius behind Grammy winner Burna Boy.

Other playlists will include Christian rap and drill music, as well as the powerful tones of some of the world’s best choirs.

Many other notable figures in the UK Gospel scene came to the store to support the launch of the playlist. “This means so much for us because we have been working hard to get more integration in the gospel scene, this is huge,” said Derrick Tchie, the founder of Gospel Hydration.

Premier Gospel, which is part of the Premier Christian Communication group, has spent almost ten years discovering rising talent in the music industry and has streamed to millions.

Premier Gospel started as a London-based radio station and now, 20 years later, is a flourishing multi-media organisation across radio, magazines and interactive websites with on-demand video and audio.
