Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Pope Leo XIV in Italy recently as he prepared to send revised proposals to the United States to end Russia’s invasion.

Zelensky’s meeting with the Pope focused on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the pressing need to pursue peace through dialogue.

Prior to meeting the Pope, Zelensky held talks with European leaders in London and Brussels, where he emphasized that Ukraine has no legal or moral right to cede territories to Russia.

He pointed to the land issue and international security guarantees as two of the main sticking points in the negotiations
