Dr. Olukoya is a musician and song composer. His popular song, “Oke Nla Sidi” translated to mean “O ye mountain, be removed” was said to be formed after many years of waiting on the Lord for his son, Elijah Toluwani Olukoya.According to a testimony by his wife, Pastor Dr. Shade Olukoya, she said that Dr Olukoya, upon hearing the news of his son’s birth immediately burst into singing. According to her, she said that he sang till they got to their house and he was so happy that he missed the way, went to another apartment and was trying his keys on the lock. At the time, they had waited on the Lord for over 16 years of marriage, so there was every reason to be joyful.Dr Olukoya, earlier in life, joined the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Yaba, where his reputation as an exceptional Geneticist of African origin became established.He emerged as an authority in the study of genetics, publishing over 70 scientific papers in a short span (a remarkable feat by any standard).
