Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Reveals Departure of Gospel Musicians from Christ Embassy
By Church News
In a recent broadcast of “Your LoveWorld,” Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, addressed the reasons why several prominent gospel musicians, including Sinach, Eben, and Frank Edwards, have left the church. The announcement sheds light on years of speculation and rumours surrounding their departures, providing clarity and context for the decisions made.
During his address, Pastor Oyakhilome expressed concern that the musicians had deviated from their spiritual calling and were no longer celebrating God in their ministry. He emphasized that the church had transformed into a place of personal celebration rather than a house of prayer and worship. “The church was turned into a party place, not a place of prayer where God’s word was truly celebrated,” he stated, highlighting the shift away from the core mission of the church.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome further elaborated that the gospel musicians had prioritized personal fame and financial gain over their spiritual responsibilities. He criticized them for commercializing their talents and allowing secular influences to infiltrate the church’s music. “They were not soul winners; they led praise in church, and when it was time for prayers, they were gone. The music in the church became worldly, and they began charging for their singing,” he explained. This commercialization, according to Pastor Oyakhilome, compromised the spiritual integrity of the church’s worship services.
The pastor emphasized that while he initially celebrated the musicians’ success and encouraged their growth, he had to make a difficult decision when they refused to align with the church’s spiritual direction. “I told them the Lord wanted us to do the right thing, but they had become too popular and were making money, which was too attractive to them. They didn’t want to follow me, so they made a detour,” he added. This divergence ultimately led to their departure from the Christ Embassy.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s candid explanation provides clarity on the reasons behind the departure of these gospel musicians from Christ Embassy. As the church continues to focus on its mission of spreading the gospel and fostering spiritual growth, the pastor hopes that those who left will eventually return to their spiritual roots and recommit to their original calling.
The announcement has sparked discussions within the Christian community, with many reflecting on the balance between spiritual devotion and the pursuit of personal success. As Christ Embassy moves forward, the church remains dedicated to upholding its values and ensuring that its worship services remain true to its spiritual mission.
