Pam Knowles Sets Guinness World Record as Longest-Serving Sunday School Teacher
By Church News
Pam Knowles, a Sunday School teacher from Merseyside, England, has officially entered the Guinness World Records as the longest-serving Sunday School teacher at a single institution.
Pam began teaching at St Anne’s Church in Aigburth in 1951, and as of January 2025, she had served for an astonishing 73 years and 104 days. Her record-breaking tenure was made possible thanks to her son, who submitted the application to Guinness World Records.
Over the decades, Pam Knowles has taught three generations of families, guiding children aged 3 to 7 through Bible stories, songs, crafts, and play. She’s known for her storytelling flair, especially tales like Noah’s Ark and Daniel in the Lions’ Den, which remain favorites among her young students.
To mark the achievement, St Anne’s Church held a special ceremony led by the Revd Ian Greenwood, where Pam Knowles was presented with gifts and a certificate now proudly displayed in the church. Despite the attention, Pam said: “I just love the children. I love telling stories,” she said.
