MOBO Awards Nominees For Best Gospel Act Announced

The MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards, has unveiled the 2022 nominees for best Gospel Act ahead of its 25th-anniversary celebration on 30 November 2022 at the OVO Arena Wembley.

In the category for Best Gospel Act, the nominees are Asha Elia, who secured 1 million streams on Spotify for her Christian hit Nights Like This; CalledOut Music,  who previously won the Best Gospel Act in 2020; Rachel Kerr, who took home the award in 2012.

Reblah, who has already pocketed several awards throughout his career; Sarah Teibo, who was named winner of the Premier Gospel Awards Album of the Year and STILL Shadey, a multi-faceted entertainer, with a story and art style of formidable depth.

The gospel music category has previously been dominated by a host of household names, such as Guvna B, Volney Morgan & New Ye and Triple O.

The MOBOs describe themselves as the premiere outlet for recognising and honouring the artistic and technical achievements of exceptional British and international urban talent.

For a quarter of a century, MOBO has been proudly celebrating and elevating black music in the UK.

Its 25-year legacy has seen MOBO have a pivotal role in supporting the growth of British black music on a global scale, championing homegrown talent, and setting the standard in Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Grime, Drill, Gospel, Jazz, Reggae, Garage, Drum & Bass and beyond.

The MOBO Organisation was founded in 1996 by Kanya King and in 1999, she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and a CBE in the 2018 Birthday Honours List.

Other awards include an honorary fellowship from Goldsmiths College, University of London, an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration at London Metropolitan University as well as a Doctorate from Leeds Metropolitan University.

In the course of its history, the MOBO Awards show has witnessed performances from UK and international talent.
