Mike Bamiloye Defends ‘No Turning Back’ Amid Mixed Reactions
By Mary
Mike Bamiloye has spoken in support of the gospel song “No Turning Back” by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor, addressing reactions from various Christian community members.
The song, which combines Yoruba lyrics with contemporary gospel influences, has gained widespread attention, particularly among younger audiences. While many have praised its energetic style and strong message of commitment to faith, others have raised concerns about the artist’s presentation and the evolving landscape of gospel music.
In an online statement, Mike Bamiloye encouraged believers to focus on the song’s core message rather than external details. He emphasised the importance of reaching younger generations with the gospel in ways that resonate with their cultural and social contexts.
He said: “Ife Jesu lo wa mi ri, to gbami ku o” (“The love of Jesus sought me, found me, and died for me”), he argued that the track effectively delivers the gospel in a language today’s youth can understand.
“Teenagers and young adults today are some of the most difficult people to reach with the gospel.
“In a world that glamorises drugs, promiscuity, money-worship, and fleeting love, we finally get a song that boldly centres Jesus—and some of us are criticising it? What is wrong with us?”
