Methodist Church of Nigeria Urge Buhari to Restructure Nigeria

Presently, The Methodist Church of Nigeria is urging President Buhari to restructure the country, based on the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference.The leaders of the church are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to “Systematically and meticulously uphold the constitutional policy and provision for the practice of true federalism and federal character in appointments to all offices and agencies, especially in the security sector to foster a sense of belonging to all Nigerians.”Recently, the Southern Governors met to discuss and seek ways to resolve the problem of open grazing. And the violent clashes resulting therefrom in their various states. The open grazing ban spearheaded by Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has been widely commended. Many governors believe that the ban is a step in the right direction. The law was enacted to check the nefarious activities of cattle herders.The leaders of the Methodist Church of Nigeria have applauded the southern governors for urging the president to take concrete steps to address the problem. By consensus, ranching is a more preferable option to open grazing as it is in line with world best practices.Consequently, the clerics are pushing for better and more efficient policing in states. To this end, they advocate for state police. This, they believe will better tackle the security problems ravaging the country.
