By Church News

Matthew Langford Perry, an American-Canadian actor known for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC television sitcom Friends, during an interview recently shared his first-ever prayer request to God.The actor during an interview with Diane Sawyer said he had asked God to make him famous.“God, you can do whatever you want to me; just please make me famous, that was the first time I ever prayed, and I look back at it as a dumb prayer, like a prayer of like a really young person,” he said.In his new memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry tells a story about drinking his first bottle of wine at 14 years old with some friends.“I lay in the grass and just was in Heaven,” the actor wrote. “And I thought to myself, ‘This must be the way that normal people feel all the time.’”His feelings of euphoria led to getting down on his knees and praying for the first time ever. God answered Perry’s prayer, and his role in Friends made him a household name.Actor Matthew Perry opened up about his acting career and substance abuse issues in a new memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big, Terrible Thing” as well as how he overcame it.“I wanted to share when I was safe from going into the dark side of everything again,” Perry said in an interview about the upcoming book. “I had to wait until I was pretty safely sober and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction, to write it all down. And the main thing was, I was pretty certain that it would help people.”While known primarily for his comic roles, Perry has carved out a career in drama as well, particularly in his portrayal of Associate White House Counsel Joe Quincy in Aaron Sorkin‘s The West Wing.ALSO READ How God Delivered Him from Depression, Suicidal Thoughts- Actor Zachary Levi
