Local churches set to begin Operation Christmas Child

 The Operation Chrismas Child will have five locations in Summit County where residents can drop off shoebox gifts during National Collection Week, which is between Nov. 15 – 22.Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse and partners with local churches across the globe to deliver shoeboxes to children in need. The organization has collected and delivered more than 188 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 160 countries and territories since it was founded in 1993.Each year individuals and groups in Summit County transform empty shoeboxes into fun gifts filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and toys.The Summit County drop-off sites are:Hope Community Church; 3033 Middleton Road, HudsonChrist Community Chapel; 750 W. Streetsboro St., HudsonNorthampton Bible Church; 333 W. Steels Corners Road, Cuyahoga FallsTallmadge Lutheran Church; 759 East Ave., TallmadgeGrace Bible Church; 5781 Manchester Road, New FranklinParticipants are encouraged to check their nearest drop-off location’s hours of the operation beforehand. Signs and volunteers at each location will identify where to leave the shoeboxes upon arrival.There are over a dozen other collection sites in Northeast Ohio, which can be found using the organization’s online lookup tool.Those that don’t want to leave the house can also build a shoebox online or mail their gift-filled shoeboxes to the organization’s offices in Boone or Charlotte, North Carolina.
