Kendrick Brothers Share Behind-The-Scenes Look At ‘The Forge’
By Church News
Before “The Forge” debuts in theatres across the country on August 23, Alex and Stephen Kendrick gave audiences at the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting an early screening of their latest film.
In two different screenings sponsored by Lifeway Films recently, the filmmaking brothers shared their heart behind the movie to hundreds gathered to hear their story and watch the film.
“Our hope for every film is that it is an entertaining, inspirational ride you can watch and enjoy with your entire family,” he said.
“We love lifting up the name of Jesus in theaters,” he added. “But our ’ desire is the Kingdom. Filmmaking is an excuse to make disciples on set, through our films, through resources, and everything we do. Our hope is that this will be a tool for pastors to ignite a renewed passion for the Great Commission.”
Lifeway President and CEO Ben Mandrell shared “The Forge” was his favourite of the brothers’ films because of its focus on discipleship and relationship. “The power of mentoring and pouring into young people like Paul tells us to do in the book of Titus is clearly displayed in the movie,” he said.
