In a significant announcement during the Sunday service on September 17, 2023, Pastor Jimmy Othniel Odukoya has been named the Senior Pastor of TFOLC (the Fountain of Life Church), succeeding his late father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.

Rotimi Okpaise, a pastor, addressed the congregation, revealing that the succession plan had been confidentially discussed with the board of trustees (BoT) of TFOLC by  Pastor Taiwo Odukoya before his passing.

Pastor Okpaise went on to share that the BoT had unanimously elected Jimmy Odukoya as the new Senior Pastor of the church. The installation ceremony for Pastor Jimmy is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

This transition follows the passing of Taiwo Odukoya, the founder of the Fountain of Life Church, on August 7, 2023, in the United States of America, at age 67. His death came less than two years after the loss of his wife, Nomthi, in November 2021, after a two-year battle with cancer. The union of Taiwo and Nomthi Odukoya lasted for 11 years and blessed them with two sons.

Before his marriage to Nomthi, Taiwo Odukoya was married to Bimbo for 21 years. Tragically, Bimbo lost her life in the 2005 Sosoliso plane crash in Port Harcourt.

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya is not only known for his spiritual leadership but also for his contributions to the movie industry. He has played prominent roles in movies such as Netflix’s ‘Woman King,’ ‘Lifting the Veil,’ ‘I am Nazzy,’ ‘Oga Pastor,’ and more. Additionally, he is a motivational speaker who has emphasised that being a pastor has not hindered his acting career.

In January 2021, in an interview with actress  Iretiola Doyle, he revealed that being a pastor does not in any way affect his acting career. He said, “How does being a pastor affect my acting career? I don’t believe it, some people have different opinions, one is if I am an actor, I should be a Christian actor and I say there is no such thing.” Taking up this mantle will increase his impact on the world.

Pastor Jimmy got married to Oluwakemi Odukoya (née Banjoko) in London in 2013, and their union has been a source of joy and inspiration to many. As Jimmy takes over as Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, he continues his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s, tradition of faith and leadership.
