JDPC Provides Boreholes In FCT Communities

The Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja has provided boreholes in Sheda and Pegi communities in the Federal Capital Territory to enhance access to potable water.The Chairman of the commission, Josephat Abaagu, inaugurated the boreholes on Thursday.The projects, sited at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sheda and the St Francis Catholic Church, Pegi, were approved by Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama.Abaagu expressed hope that the boreholes will prevent young people in the area from exposure to negative vices and harm while in search of water in places far from their homes.He said, “The projects are expected to complement the government’s effort as they continue to find ways of providing improved social welfare services in Nigeria and improve the livelihood of citizens.“The Archdiocese of Abuja remains resolute in the business of improving the lives and welfare of individuals, our communities and the nation at large.’’In their remarks, the parish priests of the two churches, Rev Fr Thomas Edogbanya and Rev Fr Victor Ilo commended the Archbishop for the projects.Also, Stephen Faruna, First Vice Chairman of Sheda Parish Pastoral Council, commended the commission for the gesture and assured proper care of the borehole.He said it was an opportunity for some of the parishioners to engage in ice block, fish breeding and other businesses connected with water.In Pegi, Mr Destiny Igboanugo expressed joy and gratitude to the archbishop for approving the project.The Justice, Development and Peace Commission is a faith based and non-profit organization of the Catholic Church, established as its social organ promoting the social teachings of the Catholic Church.The Justice, Development and Peace Commission of Abuja Archdiocese (JDPC Abuja) was established in 1994.The commission represents the ministry of service of the Church, aimed at augmenting the spiritual aspects of the Church’s duties, with an orientation towards excellentALSO READ JDPC To Inaugurate Massive Voters Sensitisation
