Gospel singer Jamal Roberts has reached No. 1 on multiple Billboard gospel charts with his latest song, Heal. The track, which gained attention after Roberts performed it on American Idol Season 23, has quickly climbed the rankings.

Heal, originally written by British musician Tom Odell, now sits at the top of both the Hot Gospel Songs and Gospel Digital Song Sales charts. It also made a strong debut on the Gospel Streaming Songs chart, entering at No. 7.

In addition to his latest success, Jamal Roberts’ earlier gospel recording, He’s Preparing Me, has seen renewed interest, reaching No. 4 on the Gospel Digital Song Sales chart.

Roberts, a former physical education teacher from Meridian, Mississippi, won American Idol on May 18, 2025. His victory was notable, as he became the first Black male winner of the competition since Ruben Studdard in Season 2.
