By Church News
Best-selling author J.K. Rowling, renowned for the Harry Potter series, has shared her personal struggles with faith, admitting to a “God-shaped vacuum” in her life. In a post on social media platform X, Rowling expressed her ongoing quest for spiritual answers, revealing that she has grappled with religious faith since her mid-teens.
Raised Anglican, Rowling is now a member of the Church of Scotland. Despite her Christian upbringing, she has struggled to find definitive answers to her spiritual questions.
Rowling described her uncertainty about faith, stating, “I appear to have a God-shaped vacuum inside me, but I never seem quite able to make up my mind what to do about it.” She acknowledged the complexity of faith, saying, “I suppose that’s the meaning of faith, believing without seeing proof. That’s why I’ll probably go to my grave with that particular personal matter unresolved.”
she also discussed how her views have evolved over time:
Transgender Ideology: She has become an outspoken critic, citing concerns about biological sex and women’s rights.
Cannabis Use: Rowling no longer believes cannabis is harmless, having witnessed its negative impact on someone’s mental health.
Euthanasia: She has changed her stance on assisted dying, now opposing it due to concerns about coercion, influenced by her husband, a doctor.
