Irohin Odua has honoured Pastor William Kumuyi and Pastor Enoch Adeboye with the 2025 Persons of the Year Award. The announcement was made by the editorial board of Irohin Odua, the first pan-Yoruba news online, in a statement commending the two pastors for their outstanding service to God and humanity.

Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, and Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), were celebrated for their unwavering commitment to promoting peace, love, and brotherhood in Nigeria and beyond. The editorial board highlighted their efforts in fostering harmony in a world often riddled with violence, hate, and disaffection.

The statement noted that in 2024, Nigeria experienced a surge in violence and ethnic tensions. Despite these challenges, Pastors Kumuyi and Adeboye used their platforms to advance peace and good neighbourliness, setting an example for others to follow. “While others used religion to advance hatred and parochial political and ethnic goals, Pastor Kumuyi and Adeboye converted their multiple platforms to the advancement of peace and good neighbourliness,” the statement read.

The Irohin Odua Award also recognized the pastors’ resilience in the face of opposition. Despite facing vicious and violent attacks from their opponents, their responses remained measured, cultured, and propelled by godliness. The editorial board praised their ability to influence global leaders, noting that they could “knock and open the doors of any president or prime minister all over the world”.

Pastors Kumuyi and Adeboye join a distinguished list of previous Irohin Odua award recipients, including Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, Dr. Adeniyan Abraham, and the Olu of Warri. The award, given annually, honours the most distinguished Yoruba personalities who have made significant contributions to society.
