Hundreds Receives Christ At A Kentucky Revival
By Church News
Hundreds receive Christ at the ‘Go Tell Crusade’ in the Madisonville area of Kentucky last week.
This was a cooperative effort of 45 churches in Kentucky and Kevin Maples, the pastor of First Baptist Church Madisonville who helped spearhead the effort said, “It was incredible, the fruit that came from the crusade didn’t happen overnight or by sharing on Facebook or with a few flyers. It came through preparation and prayer.”
It started with a call to Evangelist Rick Gage and his Go Tell ministries that have been ongoing for more than 30 years. One of the keys to putting on a successful crusade, Maples said, is to partner with people who had done it before.
“I did a crusade with Rick in Atlanta when I pastored there, and we saw more saved in the follow-up process than the actual crusade,” he said. “Somebody gets saved (at the crusade), goes back home and nobody in the house is a believer. They witness to them about what happened. It opens up a whole new network.”
Maples said it was important to move the focus away from the church and put it squarely on Jesus where it belongs.
“People are not coming because they already have a preconceived notion of what church is,” he said. “They’re rejecting what they think church is. We need to clearly communicate the gospel.”
GO TELL’s crusade ministry unites churches in a community that pool their resources to prepare the way for evangelistic crusades to be held in football stadiums, civic centres, and coliseums. The nightly event features popular Christian artists, testimonies of hope and inspiration, and a clear Gospel message.
GO TELL teams up with local churches to provide leadership, vision, and resources to overcome obstacles and give pastors and lay leaders the tools they need to win their communities for Christ.
