Here are some celebrities who courageously left Hollywood fame for Jesus.
1. Montell Jordan
The popular artist behind the “unforgettable 1995 hip-hop Anthem ‘This is who we do it’.” He is now a devoted lead pastor of Masterpiece Church in Dacula, Georgia. During the 90s, he received a Grammy nomination as his music dominated the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 29 weeks and topped No.1 for seven weeks. But amidst his soaring career, he had a spiritual awakening. So, he boldly walked away from the limelight and turned to Gospel music.
2. Chris Tucker
Chris Tucker was an actor and comedian who left the secular industry to become a Christian celebrity. He rose to fame after starring with Jackie Chan in the film Rush Hour. But amidst his popularity and success, it never satisfied him. That’s when he found Christ.
He was one of those well-known Christian actors who turned down large sums of money, amounting to twelve million dollars, because of his Christian beliefs. There was a scene where he needed to cuss or smoke weed.
3. Rick Moranis
He was a popular comedian in the 1980s who suddenly vanished from the limelight during the 90s. Because at that point, he decided to walk away from fame to draw nearer to God after he lost his wife in 1991. Later, he boldly decided to leave the entertainment industry for good. And his relationship with God also deepened.
4. Kirk Cameron
Kirk Cameron was an atheist teen actor before he encountered Jesus at 17 years old. It started when he starred in the film “Growing Pains,” where he found the truth about God. Since then, the actor has become a transformed person dedicated to sharing Jesus with others. But he didn’t leave the entertainment industry. Instead, he used his talents and produced faith-based films for the glory of God.
5. Stephen Baldwin
The youngest brother of the well-known Baldwin brothers is Stephen Baldwin. His faith journey in Christ began after the September 11 tragedy in America. Soon, he embarked on a journey to deepen his Christian faith and redirected his career path from the entertainment world into a more conservative one. He turned to work with conservative radio and shared his faith in Jesus through it.
6. Angus T. Jones
Former child star Angus T. Jones rose to popularity in a successful series titled “Two And A Half Men.” But he walked away from the limelight later in life despite his prominence in the series. And this was because, as a teenager, he met Christ, and the series had scenes that conflicted with his Christian beliefs. Then he embarked on a journey to deepen his faith.
