Good and Pleasing to God – Phil Ware

By Church News

Good and Pleasing to God “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11ThoughtWhile Paul’s exhortation here is excellent, it is the style of the exhortation we should especially notice. We live in an age where we are constantly pressured to emphasize the novel, new, or improved versions of things. But in our lives as Christians, we need to remind each other of what we are doing right and just simply say, “Hey, you’re doing well, just keep doing what you’re doing!”Prayer:Faithful Father, thank you for noticing and keeping record of the things I’ve done that are good and pleasing to you. Please help me to keep doing those things that please you, only do them better, that you may be pleased and glorified. In Jesus name. Amen.Phil previously preached and ministered with the Westover Hills congregation for 22 years (1982-2004), Elgin Church of Christ for 3 1/2 years (1978-1982), and most recently with the Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene (2004-2014). During this time Phil has presented classes and keynoted at the Pepperdine Lectures and ACU Lectureship/Summit as well as presented at the Christian Scholars Conference and Harding Lectures. In addition to his preaching ministry, Phil founded and led the Heartlight, Inc. ministries that has a daily footprint of about 300,000 distinct users, has written regular articles for a number of newspapers and radio programs as well as Restoration Quarterly, Image Magazine, 21st Century Christian Magazine, and Wineskins.Phil previously taught for seven years as adjunct professor of practical ministry at the Institue of Christian Studies (now the Graduate School of Theology) in Austin.
