A group of Christian activists and military veterans has started a 40-day fast outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City, calling for increased humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The effort, organised by Veterans for Peace, Pax Christi, and other faith-based groups, aims to raise awareness of food shortages in the region and advocate for policy changes.

Participants plan to consume less than 250 calories per day, reflecting the challenges faced by many in Gaza due to food scarcity. The fast began with a press conference near the Isaiah Wall, followed by a demonstration at the U.S. Mission to the UN.

Rev. Addie Domske, a field organiser for Friends of Sabeel North America, shared, “We hope this fast encourages action to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.”

With nearly 250 participants across the country, organizers aim to keep attention on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and push for policy discussions.
