Doreen Virtue Details How God Transformed Her Life
By Church News
The dramatic shift of New Age mogul Doreen Virtue towards Christianity and away from many of her previous teachings was made known recently to Jenn Nizza on the “Ex-Psychic Saved” podcast.
Virtue, the Hay House author of more than 50 books, angel oracle cards, and tarot decks, offered several types of spiritual counselling programs to become a Certified Angelologist, Angel Therapy Practitioner, Angel Intuitive, and Fairyologist through her Earth Angel brand.
Virtue’s life took a dramatic turn in 2017 when she read through the Bible for the first time. She read Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and was stunned by God’s warning to the Israelites not to follow the occult practices of the surrounding nations.
“I remember reading through the list of the things that the Canaanites did and realizing it was the same things that I was doing,” she recalled. “Then I got to the part where it says, ‘Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.’”
Virtue was shocked. For most of her life, she had believed she was a Christian. Her mother was a Christian Scientist and raised her as an “open-minded” Christian. She was somewhat unique among New Age teachers for the way she blended Christian vocabulary with New Age philosophy.
Since February 25, 2017, when Doreen Virtue was baptized in the Episcopal Church, her writings have focused on Jesus and scripture while she has openly repudiated the foundations of her former teachings and called for her followers to no longer go to other people to develop their relationships with God.
“I’m devastated that some people may be in hell now because they were following my work,” Virtue told host Jenn Nizza on the “Ex-Psychic Saved” podcast. “It’s heartbreaking every day to realize my old work’s out there and what I did.”
“I really thought I was a Christian doing God’s work,” she said. “I had no idea that I was an abomination to God by doing and teaching divination until 2017 when I read Deuteronomy 18:10-12, and I was floored when it says there that anyone who does these things … is detestable [and an] abomination to God, and the veil was lifted. I just … fell to my knees.”
“I gave my life to Jesus,” she continued. “That was the autumn of 2017, and ever since then, I’ve just been telling people, ‘I’m sorry I made these cards. Please don’t use them.'”
