Christian Tourists To Participate In Biblical Excavations In Israel

By Church News

American Christian tourists visiting the Holy land are to participate in archaeological excavations as part of a new unique tourism package which allows Bible enthusiasts to take an active part in the historical story of the Jewish people throughout Israel. The tour with the theme,  “Unearth the Land of the Bible” will run from April 17 to 27 next year, leading participants in the exploration of heritage and nature sites in the Holy Land and archaeologist-led excavations at key locations.Tour participants will hear expert lectures on how the past resonates still, in modern Israel’s culture.Ahead of their arrival in Israel, participants will be provided with virtual instructions on the critical work of uncovering and conserving significant historical findings. The Israeli Ministry of Tourism, Educational Opportunities Tours and Sar-El Tours, in partnership with the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C and the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, spearheaded the archaeology-focused tourism initiative. The tour will launch ahead of the 75th anniversary of the State of Israel and offer attendees an opportunity to enjoy the country’s Independence Day celebrations.“Our wonderful history in this land attracts many tourists, people who love Israel, who want to discover with their own hands the hidden treasures we have here,” said Israeli Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov.“A visit of Christians that combines archaeology, conservation and assistance in uncovering findings related to the biblical legacy of the State of Israel will improve Israel’s image overseas and spread the legacy of the ‘People of the Book’ to the Christian world. Strengthening the relationship between Christians who love Israel through incoming tourism also helps support Israel’s economy,” the minister added. The Ministry of Tourism’s deputy director-general, Kobby Barda, highlighted the trip as a “first of its kind,” saying, “We are excited at the possibility of Bible enthusiasts coming to the Holy Land and participating in archaeological activities in a first-of-its-kind package that combines adventure and love of the Bible.”ALSO READ Authorities Help Renovate The Catholic Martyrs Memorial
