Unsung Hero is a must-see, it is an outstanding true story that will encourage and inspire, it is a celebration of mums, family, dreams and faith and it reminds us that God is with us through everything.

Unsung Hero is an outstanding and incredible movie based on the true story of the Smallbone Family (Rebecca St James, for KING + COUNTRY). Do not miss this, It is the best film of the year.

The film follows the remarkable true story of the Smallbone family as David Smallbone’s successful music company collapses, he moves his family from Australia to the United States in search of a brighter future. With nothing more than their six children, their suitcases, and their love of music, David and his pregnant wife Helen set out to rebuild their lives from the ground up. With plenty of struggles, a mum’s faith stands against all odds, inspiring her husband and children.

This story will blow you away, it is incredible, raw and true, combined with fantastic production, soundtrack, acting, directing and cinematography.

This is Joel Smallbone’s directorial debut and it is a strong debut, he has directed as well as a seasoned director, you can feel the passion that has gone into creating this film about his family’s life story. Not only does Joel direct he also portrays his father in the movie and it is an extraordinary performance, this is by far the performance of his film career.

It is not just Joel’s performance that is strong, the acting across the entire movie is exceptional, you can feel the raw emotions, the struggles, the ups and downs, and you really feel a part of the story. The acting alongside how well this has been made, makes this raw story real and believable, it feels as though you are watching the family as their life happened.

The film is emotional, there is pain, there is humour happiness, there is forgiveness, miracles and faith. It is relatable, many of us will be able to relate to many parts of this film. It is a reminder that God is with us all the time, not matter what is happening in life, trust Him, keep your eyes on Him and do not lose Hope.

Unsung Hero is also a celebration of Helen Smallbone, mother and wife, the person who held the Smallbone family together with her faith, prayers and encouragement. Watching this movie will get you thinking about the unsung hero in your life too.

Overall Unsung Hero is a must see, it is a outstanding true story that will encourage and inspire, it is a celebration of mums, family, dreams and faith and it reminds us that God is with us through everything.
